Sinai Temple and Sinai Akiba Academy

This complex urban mixed use project, located on a restricted urban site in West Los Angeles, incorporates 60,000 square feet of new classrooms, special function rooms, and outdoor play areas for students from pre-school through eighth grade, and a large multi-purpose banquet hall supporting various temple functions.

A 150,000-square foot, four levels subterranean parking garage, located beneath the facility, accommodates parking for both the Temple and school functions. The building creates a variety of outdoor courtyards and terraces for school and Temple activities.

The massing of the building is developed into distinct components to break down the scale of the facility and to create a transition from the large scale of Wilshire Boulevard to the residential neighborhood south of the project site.

(This project was designed while a principal of Dworsky Associates)
