Calexico
Jet Propulsion Laboratory Visitor and Conference Center

Intended to be the new public entry to the NASA/Jet Propulsion Laboratory campus, this conference center and exhibit hall was designed to fit on a tightly restricted site.

The building’s curved glass and metal panel wall creates a defining edge to the central landscaped mall. This curved wall and the linear organization of the building embody a sense of movement that is expressive of the parabolic flight path of spacecraft.

The primary conference spaces surround and are accessed from a double-height exhibition hall. The building overlooks the “Plaza of the Planets,” designed to represent the solar system with planetary sculptural markers in relationships that are proportional to their actual orbital paths.

(This project was designed while a principal of Dworsky Associates)
